Materials & Process

Each object is made in a single studio in Beykoz, Istanbul. This page walks through the materials we work with and the steps that turn a form into a finished piece.

Materials We Work With

Pigmented epoxy resin. Cast in two parts, hand-mixed with dry pigment. It holds colour deeply rather than on the surface. When light moves across a piece, the pigment moves with it.

Plaster. Set in moulds and finished by hand. It takes tool marks well and keeps them. The surface is matte, dry, quiet.

Wax. Used for prototyping and for small cast forms where softness matters more than strength. It records detail at a level resin and plaster cannot.

Ceramic and PLA. Ceramic for pieces that need to be fired and glazed. PLA, a plant-based plastic, is printed and used as armature or substrate beneath cast layers in some works.

From Form to Object

A piece begins on paper or in CAD. We sketch, then build a digital or physical model until the proportions sit right.

From the model we make a master: sometimes 3D-printed, sometimes hand-sculpted in wax or clay. The master is what the mould is built around.

Moulds are poured in silicone, with rigid jackets where the geometry calls for it. A single mould yields a limited number of clean casts before it softens and is retired.

Casting is done in small batches. Resin is mixed, pigmented, degassed, and poured. Plaster is mixed and poured by hand. Cure times decide the rhythm of the studio.

Finishing is the longest step. Sanding through grits, polishing, sealing where needed. Edges are cut back, surfaces are read under raking light. Each piece is signed before it leaves.

The Hand in the Work

We don't try to eliminate the marks of making. Pigment is mixed by hand, so depth varies slightly from cast to cast. Plaster carries soft tool lines where a finger or a blade has passed. Resin sometimes holds a fine air point near the surface.

These are not flaws. They are the record of an object having been made by a person, in a room, on a particular day.

Two pieces from the same edition will read as siblings, not copies.

Small Editions and Made-to-Order

Most works are cast to order. After an order is placed, production takes three to five weeks: the time the materials need, not a queue.

Editions are kept small. Twelve or twenty-four casts is typical. Where applicable, pieces are signed and numbered on the underside.

Once an edition closes, the mould is retired. We don't reopen them.

Where It's Made

Everything is made in one studio in Beykoz, on the Asian side of Istanbul. Casting, finishing, signing, packing, all in the same room, by the same hands.

We don't outsource production. The pieces ship from where they were made.

Every object leaves the studio carrying the trace of how it was made, and that trace is part of what you bring home.
